Join the Marketing Department to support content creation and communications projects. This role provides hands-on experience drafting social media posts, developing product-focused documents, organizing press releases, and maintaining the marketing calendar. The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and looking to build real-world marketing experience and strengthen their portfolio. This is a three-month contract position beginning in August 2026, with an optional extension available.
Responsibilities:
Create and format customer-facing marketing content in alignment with J.R. Merritt brand standards, such as social media posts, newsletters, blog posts, and press releases.
Maintain the marketing calendar to keep posts, releases, and events organized and on schedule.
Update and refresh sales collateral so it reflects current branding, messaging, and product information.
Assist with internal events such as the Annual Sales Conference and company Holiday Party.
Collaborate with team members to gather information, review drafts, and support day-to-day marketing projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, with at least 90 undergraduate credits completed.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with major social media platforms and an interest in digital marketing and content creation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging.
Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to gain hands-on marketing experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completed a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Experience creating visual content using graphic design tools (Adobe, Canva, etc.)
Familiarity with digital marketing concepts, including social media, email, and content strategy.
An existing portfolio of professional, academic, volunteer, or personal marketing projects.
Position Details:
Part-Time: Approximately 20 hours per week with a minimum commitment of 180-200 total internship hours over 13 weeks to satisfy a 3-credit college internship requirement, if needed. Scheduling flexibility based on department needs and candidate availability.
Compensation: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience, skills, and demonstrated ability.
Contract Term: This position is expected to begin in August 2026 and continue for approximately three months in support of the Marketing Manager’s maternity leave. There may be opportunities to extend or expand the role based on business needs and mutual interest.
Location: On-site at J.R. Merritt Controls in Stratford, Connecticut

Portfolio Opportunity: All non-confidential content and marketing collateral created during the contract period may be included in the candidate’s professional portfolio following completion of the contract.
