Receiving and Warehouse Material Handler


Location: Stratford, CT

Employment Type: Full-Time

Responsible for stocking, maintaining, and moving materials in the warehouse, and responsible for overall daily warehouse upkeep. This role is vital for maintaining an organized warehouse and ensuring inventory integrity through regular cycle counting. Additionally, this position provides essential backup support to the shipping and receiving departments to ensure timely order fulfillment.

Responsibilities:

  • Stocking & Warehouse Maintenance

    • Tag, label, and store received items in designated inventory areas.

    • Move materials throughout the warehouse and record into the computer. 

    • Organize and maintain warehouse cleanliness to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

    • Ensure proper stock rotation (e.g., FIFO) to manage product shelf life.

  • Inventory Control

    • Assist with regular cycle counting and periodic physical inventory audits to maintain accuracy.

    • Identify and help resolve inventory discrepancies between physical stock and digital records.

    • Provide a backup to the Central Inventory position.

  • Receiving & Inspection Support

    • Support the receiving team in receiving incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders and packing slips.

    • Assist in counting all incoming products.

    • Assist in receiving items into the computer.

    • Perform light inspections of products for damage, defects, or discrepancies in quantity.

    • Document and report any shipping errors or damaged goods to the supervisor.

  • Shipping Department Support

    • Support the shipping team during peak periods by picking and packing outgoing orders.

    • Assist in loading outbound shipments and preparing required shipping documentation.

    • Assist in packing large shipments.

Skills/Qualifications:

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  Previous warehouse experience in receiving or inventory roles.

Physical Requirements:  Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Attention to Detail:  High level of accuracy is required for inspecting goods and counting inventory.

Technical Ability: Requires the operation of material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts, and must be forklift certified
